Why Veiled Haven

Some traditions are worth preserving. Others are worth carrying forward.

The story of Veiled Haven began generations ago with the women of my family. My grandmother and her sister were known throughout Bryan County as healers and “witch women,” preserving generations of knowledge about herbs, folk traditions, practical medicine, and the quiet wisdom passed from one generation to the next.

Together, they built Twin Oaks Haven, a small shop in Richmond Hill where our family offered herbal remedies, sewing, fortune telling, and a welcoming place for those seeking guidance or comfort. Sadly, Twin Oaks Haven did not survive the tragic death of my grandaunt. With her passing, the shop closed, and the family tradition gradually faded. My mother had little interest in continuing the family trade, but she always told me that I had inherited my grandmother’s heart.

Perhaps she was right.

Years later, I found myself drawn back to the traditions of the women who came before me. I founded Veiled Haven as a way to preserve their legacy while creating something of my own—a modern online shop devoted to Wicca, herbalism, rare and unusual plants, and a deeper connection with the natural world. My mother used to tell me that Grandma and my grandaunt would always reach through the veil to guide me.

Perhaps Veiled Haven is my way of reaching back. Their hands may no longer tend the garden, but the roots they planted are still growing.

Before you wander too deeply into the shadows, a small truth must be revealed. Veiled Haven is a fictional shop created within the world of storytelling. It belongs to a fictional character, a keeper of old knowledge, forgotten crafts, and curious wonders. The herbs, artifacts, rituals, and enchanted creations described within its halls exist as part of that character’s story and imagination.

While the veil between worlds may feel thin, Veiled Haven is not a real-world shop, and its fictional wares are not available for purchase. Please do not send inquiries or requests to purchase items from Veiled Haven. The true magic behind Veiled Haven is not found in a storefront or hidden apothecary. It lives in the act of creation itself: in the stories we weave, the characters we bring to life, and the craftspeople who transform imagination into something tangible.
